I wonder how many people have considered how successful the September 11, 2001 islamic attacks were. Think about what they accomplished. They thrust islam to the center of the world, they undoubtedly caused more people to learn about islam than would have prior to their attacks. And the attacks combined with the near non-response of the U.S. doubtlessly gained converts. Furthermore, what response the United States did produce resulted in the establishment, enrichment, and training of the officially muslim nations of Iraq and Afghanistan, and the enrichment and training of countless other muslim nations around the globe. Islam now stands better suited than ever to wage jihad across the world. The September 11 attacks also resulted in muslims being portrayed as victims around the world and helped advance their jihad even as muslims further vilified America, and Western values. And finally the crowning achievement of the September 11 islamic attacks, nine years after New York is to have a triumphal mosque at Ground Zero. This is stunning. It is bizarre. It is incomprehensible. Yet it is our nightmarish reality. The islamic attacks on September 11, 2001 achieved success beyond the wildest dreams of the Religion of Peace...

In the wake of a mass shooting by a military psychiatrist, the Army's top doctor acknowledged his service needs to improve how it manages medical officers, including using more candor in reviewing their officers' performance, but Lt. Gen. Eric Schoomaker, the Army surgeon general, told USA TODAY there's no evidence his staff "could have predicted" that Maj. Nidal Hasan, the man accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood in Texas, "could have become a mass murderer."

In the 12 years that Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, was trained and promoted to major, he may not have been "an ideal clinician, not an ideal professional soldier," Schoomaker said, but, "I don't see anywhere in there, and no one has ever intimated that we should have been able to see from what we saw that this man would have become the alleged mass murderer that he is or is accused of being."

Last week, Defense Secretary Robert Gates released the findings of an independent review of the shooting conducted by former Army secretary Togo West and retired admiral Vern Clark. It recommends reviewing officer standards used by medical supervisors in Hasan's case -- "Some signs were clearly missed; others ignored," the review concludes, urging that officers who supervised Hasan be held accountable. Gates directed Army Secretary John McHugh to act on the recommendations.

Well, there you go. There's "no evidence" anyone could have predicted that Maj. Nidal Hasan could have become a mass murderer. The Army will do a formal review and produce an update to their standards.

And nowhere, in any of these reports are the words islam or jihad mentioned, but...

Hasan attended a radical mosque.
Hasan was communicating with a radical Imam tied to al-Qaeda.
Hasan expressed anti-US and pro-jihad sentiments to his colleagues.
Hasan identified himself as a "Soldier of allah."
Hasan sent money to Pakistan.
Hasan purchased weapons and ammunitions.
Hasan began wearing traditional Pakistani garb in the weeks before attack.
Hasan screamed "allahu akbar!" during his rampage.

The jihadists know they can never win on the battlefield, but they figure there's an excellent chance they can drag things out until Western civilization collapses in on itself and islam inherits by default.

That's what the war's about, our lack of civilizational confidence and identity.

Notice the reaction of just about every prominent Western leader after 9/11 was to visit a mosque, President Bush did, the prince of Wales did, the prime minister of the United Kingdom did, the prime minister of Canada did. The premier of Ontario didn't, and so 20 muslim community leaders had a big summit to denounce him for failing to visit a mosque.

We know it's not really a 'war on terror.' Nor is it, at heart, a war against islam, or even 'radical islam.' The muslim faith, whatever its merits for the believers, is a problematic business for the rest of us. There are many trouble spots around the world, but as a general rule, it's easy to make an educated guess at one of the participants: muslims vs. Jews in 'Palestine,' muslims vs. Hindus in Kashmir, muslims vs. Christians in Africa, muslims vs. Buddhists in Thailand, muslims vs. Russians in the Caucasus, muslims vs. backpacking tourists in Bali. Like the environmentalists, these guys think globally but act locally.

So the jihadists are for the most part doing no more than giving us a prod in the rear as we sleepwalk to the cliff. When I say 'sleepwalk,' it's not because we're a blasé culture. On the contrary, one of the clearest signs of our decline is the way we expend so much energy worrying about the wrong things...

Classic examples of dhimmitude...

Dhimmi mentality is becoming an ever increasing symptom of civilization on the brink. This fawning acceptance of islamic supremacy by Non-muslims with a sense of dread towards offending it has spread far and wide in the 'free' world. The dhimmi subjects are allowed to live and granted second class citizenship. Now the dhimmitude subjects have so internalized this inferior mindset that even being free they continue to revere islam at the cost of other faiths, traditions and cultures. Take Obama for instance, his recent overseas trips he has made it clear that national self-loathing and grovelling to islam will now be basic elements of American foreign policy. That's right, grovelling in subservience to an ideology that not only has enslaved entire populations, but is everywhere known for its cruel violation of basic human rights.
It is one thing to be diplomatic and seek to build bridges to other nations and worldviews. But it is quite another thing to playing down American and Judea-Christian strengths and playing up islamic depravities and weaknesses.
Bat Ye’or’s book Eurabia described the islamisation of Europe. Melanie Phillip’s, Londonistan chronicled the islamic take-over of the UK. We now need a similar book to describe how America seems to be slowly but surely heading down the same path.
Perhaps Americastan or Arabica or some such title can be used. Of course others have been trying to sound the alarm. Robert Spencer’s, Stealth Jihad is a very good start for this subject. But with B.O. now in office, there will be a whole lot more material that will need to be written.

Just watch what has followed. The consensus is white man and America is the source of all evil, that George W. Bush is a greater war criminal than Saddam Hussein ever was, and that Israel poses the greatest threat to world peace. I'm numb, what is the remedy for such chronic stupidity?
I grieve to think how brief the dream of the human intellect has been. It has committed suicide. It has set itself steadfast towards comfort and ease, a wishful balanced society with security and permanency as its hope, it has attained its hopes to come to this...

If we look at the West during the past thousand years, we have generally enjoyed an unusually high degree of freedom and power sharing. This has been the case more in some periods and countries than in others, but in the big scheme of things this remains true. However, although this arrangement has been good for our civilization as a whole, some of our elites apparently are jealous of the more authoritarian system in other cultures. They want to turn the West into a "normal," meaning more corrupt and less free, civilization, aided by the forces of globalization. We are witnessing rising nepotism, and perhaps those at the top desire this.

The political elites no longer believe in stupid things such as borders, cultures and national sovereignty. Islam upsets their world-view, so they ignore it and move on with their project of globalization, anyway. The most hardcore Leftists actively side with Islam because its hatred of the West and its concept of a global umma coincide with their own globalist outlook. Yes, I know that Socrates stated "I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world," but I don't think he meant it quite as literally as Western elites do now. Socrates didn't have an entire village of Muslims transplanted to his street during the space of a single generation, and he didn't have his daughters or female relatives raped by Muslims in his own country.

Our traditional freedoms were the result of a specific culture, developed over centuries of hard struggles. Maybe other cultures have to go through similar struggles of their own to achieve this, and some will perhaps never be able to do so. We should protect our freedoms at home before we try to export them, and we should protect them by preserving the European-derived culture which created them.

Our enemies, internal and external, want to destroy the Western world because we represent liberty, and they want to destroy Britain in particular because it gave birth to the most powerful pro-liberty culture within the Western tradition. I hope the British can regain their strength and throw off their traitor class, but they need to do so soon. We cannot allow the greatest nation in human history to be destroyed by the planet's most barbaric cultures. The British people, like their Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish and Danish counterparts, have every right to desire self-determination and self-preservation, and limit or even completely halt immigration as they see fit to ensure this. Those who say otherwise are evil, and need to be exposed as such. The Western world is under attack by a global Islamic Jihad. To support continued mass immigration of Muslims in this situation should be regarded as high treason, and punished as such... HERE.

Questions...

Ever since the relationships between the Occident and the Orient have been soured by 9/11, muslims and islamapologists occasionally mention "True islam". And "True islam", ladies and gentlemen, well, it certainly must be something fantastic and awe-inspiring. People go all misty-eyed and gooey just talking about it. How sad it is, they say, that we, dumb frightened westerners, fail to appreciate the beauty of True islam. No way those terrorist attacks have anything to do with True islam. Quite the contrary: True islam shows all of us the way to paradise on earth. True islam is a beacon of love, tolerance and respect! True islam will provide the final solution to end world hunger. True islam will prove to be an effective medicine against cancer, AIDS, angst and nasal infections, yes, True islam will make men want to fall into each others arms, and weep tears of joy. We could talk about it for hours on end! Oh, how we wish to make it clear to you what heavenly bliss you're missing out on, only because you seem eager to make such a childish fuss about a few accidental bombings. Why won't you accept that True islam has nothing to do with all that? And then they shake their heads in utter disappointment and disbelief.
But even though I really try, I can never seem to figure out what True islam really stands for. And that is weird, because there's nothing wrong with my logic, and when it comes to solving problems, it seems to have served me with adequate deductive powers over the years. So, I resort to asking questions about True islam. I will ask, for example: look, over there! Two towers are hit by airplanes, and look, a muslim blows himself to bits! How terrifying! Is that what True islam is all about? Oh no, you silly person! the islamapologists will respond. This violence has nothing to do with True islam; you are just afraid because you are not familiar with True islam. Try and understand the quran --- then you will learn all about our beautiful way of thinking.
Well, that seems perfectly reasonable, doesn't it? I should not try and judge matters I'm unfamiliar with. Hey look! Here it says all unbelievers should be beaten to death. And here it says that muslims should do their utmost to spread islam, even if this means going to war over it. And here it says women are unworthy, and can be beaten as you see fit. And here it says you are allowed to lie to unbelievers, and steal from Jews, and keep slaves. Hmmm, this piece of literature is, shall we say, hardly elevating is it? So what is this True islam? No, you silly person! they say. You shouldn't try to understand True islam by reading the quran, because only imams and islamic scribes are able to do that. Non-muslims who study the quran will only come to the wrong conclusions. And well, you will never get to know True islam if you base your understanding on the wrong conclusions, will you?
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to accept that as gospel truth then. But maybe I can find out more about True islam by examining the way in which islam is arranged for equality of the sexes. Look! A walking blanket with a little spy hole. And look! Women that are beaten black and blue, and women that are stoned to death, and women that are circumcised. And look! The amazing invisible women, fully alienated from social discourse, locked away as they've been inside their kitchen cupboards for over 25 years. And look over there: little islamic boys who, despite their age, have learned that some day they might have to slit the throat of their mother, wife, sister, cousin, niece, aunt or daughter in order to preserve their honor. Would that be True islam? A boiling pot filled with misogyny, pussy fear, and castration anxiety? No, you silly person! they will say. You should listen to those semi-integrated college muslims that are put into the limelight by your typical radical-feminist-turned-radical-dhimmi intellectuals like Karen Armstrong. These hybrids will explain to you how True islam regards a woman as a glorious pearl, and how the headscarf is proof that the emancipation of the islamic female is going great! In fact, there is anecdotal evidence about a certain Tehran woman who went to the butcher all by herself to order three lamb chops, and for this, she was only mildly reprimanded by the clerical council. So islamic women's lib is doing just fine!
Ah, I see! Well, I guess we're going to have to wait for that one. But in the meantime, let's find out what the islamic viewpoints on legislation and government have produced so far. Look! Afghanistan! A giant rubble-filled building-site, in which the entire population has to nourish itself off the milk of three goats. And look, there is Iran, where they find it more important to deploy their intellectual resources into developing an atom bomb, rather than quake-proof building constructions. Ow, look! There's beautiful Saudi-Arabia, where people are mutilated and decapitated, and where five families are hauling in oil money by the shipload while the rest of the population is starving to death. Is this then the result of True islam? Sadistic dictatorships filled with misery and poverty? No, you silly person! the islamapologists will answer. Those countries obviously have nothing to do with True islam. Those countries have clearly implemented sharia law in the wrong way, because True islam will only offer love, riches and mercy for each and everyone! Hallelujah! And just maybe, when we usurp the next country, True islam will succeed in establishing paradise on earth.
OK, so that's the deal there! But, if True islam is such a blessing for mankind, perhaps True islam is best expressed in all kinds of dazzling works of art, or brilliant scientific insights. Look, here we have islamic Nobel-prize winners --- all six of them, of which one guy actually won the Nobel peace prize for leading a bunch of terrorists for half his life. Oh, and look over there! islamic art! Thirty-five miles of calligraphic scroll, two jars of clay and a piece of burlap cloth. Wow! And listen! Is that islamic music? Endlessly repeated moans without harmony or counterpoint? It's almost like Bach, but not quite. And where can I see islamic technological innovations? Where is the islamic air and space program? Where are all those islamic cars, weapons and computers that do not need to be acquired from the perfidious West? No, you silly person! they will say. Don't you realize True islam is elevated far above earthly matters like music or technology? You should not judge True islam on a material level; you should look at the higher morality of True islam. That is something you people in the West might learn a thing or two from!

I'm sorry --- did you say 'higher morality'? In my book, higher morality is a form of insight that soars high above mundane and the vanities of the ego. To me, higher morality should make a person meeker, and more tolerant. To me, higher morality should cause a person to act wisely and profoundly, even, or rather, especially, in crisis situations; that a person under pressure does not instinctively think of himself, but is able to, leaning on his higher insight, maintain a relative outlook.
But what do muslims under pressure react like? During the times of the riots in Paris, the TV showed footage of four socially challenged persons. Amongst burning wreckage, they leaned out of their car windows, and shouted at the camera: Hey Sarkozy! We're gonna phuck your mother! And last week the news showed us footage from Afghanistan. A tormented village elder expressed his deepest feelings about a fellow villager who, to his taste, conspired with the Americans too much: Hmm, I'm gonna phuck the wife of that bastard! Did you say 'higher morality'? To me, it seems to be more like a form of regression to men's lowest instincts. Isn't this what islamic phenomena like honor killings and the headscarf are all about? Isn't this what the islamic preference for corporal punishment and stoning is all about? Isn't this the driving force behind all those terrorist attacks, and the murder of Theo van Gogh? Isn't this the reason why muslims all over the world are generally extremely quick to resort to battle and violence? I can't see any higher morality. All I can see is a lower morality; reflex actions of an instinct that feels threatened.

So muslims, I really, really try! Please tell me, where can I find the splendors of your beautiful religion? What exclusive islamic spiritual truths are going to make this world better? Where are all the glorious islamic Utopian states, based on mohammad's enlightened insights? Where can I see the results of the superior morality you so confidently take pride in? And come to think of it, where is allah? You chime about your faith, yet you wish to take no responsibility for its deeds or its sources. Do you know what I think? I think your True islam doesn't exist at all. I think your True islam is exactly the islam we can read about in the newspapers every day; the islam we do well to fear. True islam has nothing to offer when it comes to higher morality. True islam is stuck and preoccupied with men's most primitive urges; fear, survival, control, sexuality and struggle. Your True islam is led by the same instincts as a pack of herding wolves. When, oh when, will you find this out?

Liberty...

Whatever happened to 1,400 years of historical facts and analysis? Don't our leaders and other people of influence realize that if it weren't for the bravery of the past 50 generations, the West would be islamified and living under sharia law? Aren't they aware that the jihadists were defeated outside Vienna only 93 years ago? Do they know what happened on 29th May 1453? And don't they realize that the Vatican might have fallen to the jihadists had Don Juan suffered defeat at Lepanto in 1571? How about de la Valette in 1565, defending Malta against the Turks and against the odds? And there is the 473 years of the First Great jihad which islamified North Africa, the Middle East, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc, and saw the conquest of Spain, Portugal and most of France, with the 200 years of the Crusades marking the boundary between jihads, with the second Great jihad reaching Vienna via Constantinople, Belgrade and Mohacs.

All of this recorded history has been forgotten by all but the most avid historians or the most curious souls amongst our population who like to delve into historical facts about jihad. Maybe it is down to the political correct that has seeped into our souls and overwhelmed our immune system at every level since the 1960s, resulting in the mere mentioning of Lepanto or the battle of Vienna being deemed as 'upsetting' to the sensibilities of muslims, and that we should feel guilty for driving the Moors out of the Iberian Peninsular and driving the Turks back towards Constantinople in the 200 years following Vienna. Civilizational suicide in a bottle is what we are being prescribed by all manner of journalists and our media, too cowardly and spineless to spell things out just like Bishop Fulton J Sheen, Hilaire Belloc, John Wesley or Sir Winston Churchill, who would be slagged off as 'racists' were they alive today to remind us of what they wrote. Those who think they're too civilized to save themselves are indeed doomed and earmarked for certain destruction. That is the oldest lesson of history, and a grave mistake will be made by all of us if we dare forget that lesson.

The Elephant...

Once upon a time there was an elephant and four blind men. They were not born blind and they have seen most of the things of this world but an elephant. One day they met an Elephant. The first blind man, feeling of the tusk cried, an elephant is very like a spear! The second took the trunk and immediately screamed; an elephant is just like a snake! The third touched the broad and sturdy side of the elephant. He declared an elephant looks like a wall! The fourth seized the tail and claimed an elephant is like a rope.

The parable of blind men and an elephant perfectly illustrates the method of interpreting a subject matter when people are blind and/or ignorant. Often muslims blame other muslims for not understanding real islam. Each and every muslim believes his own version of islam and definitely their understanding is better than others. Knowledge is a powerful force that strongly influences a person. Typically religious knowledge is ancient in nature and overshadows a person's mind to making him blindfolded. A person with quranic knowledge tends to go back to the Stone Age whereas a person with scientific knowledge foresees the future.

Real muslims conceive islam as a way of life. They like to live a life that was practiced by the people of 7th century. Their mind is clogged with quranic dictation and mohammad's lifestyle. They happily follow this primeval culture engulfed in brutal and barbaric behaviors.
Apparently our modern muslim scholars are trying to reform islam and represent islam as a peaceful religion.
A group of half-muslims is the follower of real muslims. They pray five times a day robotically recite the quran without understanding it.
A group of mini-muslims are desperately holding the tail of the islamic elephant and expects to get a rare seat in heaven. Majority of muslims is of this type.
Good news is majority of muslims are either half-muslims or mini-muslims. Naturally they are not a direct threat to mankind as opposed to real muslims and hypocrite muslim scholars. Bad news is Saudi Arabia and Middle-East countries are pumping billions of petro-dollars to promote real islam through Madrasas and feeding hypocrite scholars. Hypocrite scholars create an innocent image of islam to keep half and mini muslims under islamic flag. Mullahs take next step to brainwash this people and convert them to real muslims. Can you imagine if all muslims of this world becoming real muslims? We are talking about a billion active suicide bombers!

To give a happy ending, the activity of emerging ex-muslims must be mentioned. This group of people is not blind or blindfolded. They see the whole elephant. In fact they see islam as a devastating wild elephant. This movement is getting momentum everyday and a surprising snowball effect is not too far, I hope...

Indecision...

Meanwhile, there's a frightening lesson to be taken from the arrest last week of six foreign-born muslims in that terror plot targeting Fort Dix. Their plot almost escaped detection, because of initial fears that turning them in might bring charges of racism.
As was widely noted, the Jersey Jihad plot was uncovered when the men went to a local Circuit City outlet to have a 90 minute video transferred to DVD. An alert young clerk became alarmed when he saw the tape showed the conspirators firing guns and screaming "allahu akhbar." The FBI was alerted, a 16-month undercover probe led to the arrests before the plot could be carried out.

But, the clerk, though "freaked out" by the tape, initially balked at reporting it. "I don't know what to do," he told a co-worker. "Should I call someone, or is that being racist?"
Chalk one up for the flying imams.

You remember them, the six muslim clerics forced to leave an airplane late last year after their ostentatiously suspicious behavior, including loud discussions about Osama bin Laden, prompted complaints from fellow passengers. The imams promptly filed a discrimination lawsuit, which targeted, among others, the passengers who had reported their provocative behavior.

Let's be clear. The lawsuit, which has the backing and financial support of major Arab-American organizations, is a bald-faced attempt to intimidate anyone who might be inclined to alert authorities about islamic terrorism. But even that brief hesitation was a victory for the imams. It showed the political jihad on public vigilance against terrorism may be succeeding.

If it ever does, we will pay a deadly price...

Muslims destroyed millennia old Buddhist statues in Afghanistan, countless holy places in India, and even underneath the Temple Mount. We saw when Palestinians desecrated the Church of The Nativity in Jerusalem by using it as a base for snipers and desecrating the insides while doing so. No big deal. After all, it is a holy site of infidels, not a cartoon of mohammed. Why waste a good rampage on infidels?

Like communism banning music and religion, or Nazi book burning, islam has a way of trying to create its own past and future. The entire world outside of islam knows that there was a Jewish temple where the Dome of the Rock sits. Ancient Babylonian and Roman references to them exist, as well as the actual artifacts beneath the old Temple site. The same artifacts Arafat tried to destroy. Recently muslims concocted a story that those Israelis were unearthing Jewish and Roman artifacts of the time were 'actually' plotting to sink the Dome of the Rock. Why would they do this? Because in the huge piles of rubble left by desecrating Palestinians, the Israelis have unearthed more proof that they existed there long before the Palestinians.

In Egypt there are sites the government refuses access, banning archaeological digs at those locations, simply because they do not desire anyone else to find what they already know. That Jews existed in those areas. Not just as bands of wandering nomads, but as civilized and metropolitan people.

Along with the changing of this past, many muslims believe that the Temple Mount is sacred to their faith. If mohammed went to the far mosque, it certainly had to be located somewhere else. The Dome of the Rock was not even built until 60 years after mohammed died. So the Dome of the Rock cannot be the place where mohammed went, as there was no mosque in place there when he died. In fact, the expectation that it would become another Mecca or Medina fizzled out, and it went into disrepair less than 20 years after its completion.

Muslims never showed an interest in a Hadj to that place. It was not a muslim holy place back then, and is not one today as far as history is concerned. It has become nothing more than a rallying point for jihad, and a political bargaining chip. In fact, the quran even says that allah gave that area to the Jews. So by trying to take it away, they disobey their own god and prophet. They transgress their own holy book. Why would mohammed claim that Jerusalem is holy, yet turn his back towards the city when he prayed? Muslims are fighting for something that their own prophet turned his back on. Interesting, isn’t it?

However, it is a holy place for the Jews. It has been since before the temple was first built by Solomon, after the captivity in Babylon, and throughout the ages. The Wailing Wall is evidence that it once stood. The tunnels beneath, the ramps, the ritual baths, and other artifacts show that it existed when the Bible says it did, and used for the sole purpose of Jewish rituals. The site and the architecture are detailed in the Bible, not the quran. But somehow it has become a bone of contention to muslims who claim otherwise.

It is sacred as well to Christians, yet they make no claims to the mount or its ruins. Nor do they protest when Israel decides to as they wish with it. No jihad is waged, no threats, no wars begin over it. Other than the usual stops for touring pilgrims that show places as detailed in the Bible, it is never an issue. To dent that would be to deny ones own faith in Christianity.

So you have to wonder what is it about islam that thinks it can destroy other religious artifacts, and make claim to sites that they never had any claim to? Just ask those in India who see a mosque sitting atop the site where their temple used to sit. I think muslims are afraid of history because it will show them things they do not want to see. They do not want to see the holes in their own dogma. They do not want to see that the reason they kill Jews is no reason at all. They do not want to admit that the excuse they have been using all these years to exterminate Jews is based on falsehood. And they do not want to have to sit around and find another way to impose islam on a global level beginning with the Jews.

History and archaeology have shown what the rest of the world never really doubted. That Israel has its history and its faith in Jerusalem and on that Temple mount. The heart and soul of Judaism rests in those places, and no matter how many artifacts you destroy, or how many fables you concoct to make people believe otherwise, that will never change the truth. It is similar to the lies of the Holocaust deniers. Their lies will never cover up the branded flesh and great loss of life.

Muslims can believe mohammed was ignorant enough to visit a mosque that did not exist. They can believe the Jews never had a temple there. They can believe that islam has the rights to that place. But in the end, it will never change the truth.

The Temple Mount always has and always will be Jewish. Just ask allah or mohammed. They said the same thing...

Where is the outrage? Doesn't anyone realize that the Iranians will continue to seize Westerners until they pay the price for doing so? Why, after all these years, hasn't anyone stopped them?

No Western leader, not Tony Blair, not George Bush, certainly none of the leaders of 'Eurabia' and certainly no one at the United Nations, dares risk the wrath of the ayatollahs and the possibility that Iran might shut off 20% of the world's oil. If ayatollahs laugh, the despots ruling Tehran must be giggling in their beards. For nearly 2 weeks, the islamic radicals running the world's terrorist states once again had leaders of the civilized world cowering and making backroom deals. But the clerics are confident there will be no consequences, all because of oil.
Other than terrorism, Iran has no ability to project power, yet. Its air force is hardly worthy of the name. The United States has the capacity to eliminate the entire Iranian Navy in less than an hour. But Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's hollow threat, "If the Americans make a wrong move toward Iran, the shipment of energy will definitely face danger," is taken seriously in capitals around the globe, because the United States set the golden standard for how to appease terrorists during the first Iranian hostage crisis way back in 1979. It was total capitulation. And it taught the Iranians a lesson about appeasement they never have forgotten. The ayatollahs in Tehran understand the value Westerners place on human life. They grasp the power of images in our media, and the willingness of an accommodating press to show our citizens in peril. And they know that we will do almost anything to save our countrymen. Been there, done that. So the islamic radicals running Iran have just reaffirmed that by threatening the world economy by threatening the supply of oil, they can be lawless with impunity. They use their oil weapon to fuel their apocalyptic nuclear weapons program, with confidence that no one will act against them because Western governments are afraid of energy supply disruptions.

The Iranians have learned much from our cowardice and appeasement. But they shouldn't be the only ones to learn something from this most recent 'hostage event'.
Now that this most recent hostage incident is over, there should be action against the brutal, corrupt islamic radicals ruling in Tehran. But no, Western leaders will settle for more negotiations, ignoring the need to back up diplomacy with the credible threat of force.
Really, to stop hostage taking as an instrument of Iran's state policy requires freeing the world from the dependency on oil. An alternative to oil would make appeasing radical islamic hostage takers unnecessary.
But then again, the picture of GW and 'friend' says enough...
